Err on Cautious Side

  •

The current nutritional blockbuster The China Study and the Movie Forks Over Knives both share one major flaw as I see it. While I agree with the basic tenets about the substantial benefits of a plant based diet, I cannot agree that pesticides, herbicides and genetic modification can simply be written off as having little or no detrimental effects.

All these latter goodies have been subjected to major modifications and “improvements” over the years which make them almost unrecognizable compared to their distant cousins which Dr. T.S. Campbell studied during his research. Until more research is done on current pesticide/herbicides and GMO’s, I think it is extremely wise to stick to organic ingredients as much as possible. While not perfect, organics, especially when purchased directly from the farmer, offer some measure of protection from toxins.

When it comes to my health I prefer to err on the cautious side rather than put my health in the hands of unscrupulous politicians, civil servants and corporations
